Top 10 Domain Sales For 2009

As the new decade rolls in we look back at 2009 at some great domain names that were sold. Total 2009 sales adds up to $18,150,000 a 11% increase from 2008 sales of $16,118,642. All top ten 2009 sales being dot coms, where in 2008 there was 4 ccTLDs in the mix. There were other large sales reported such as Cricket.com for $1.7 mil, DropShippers.com for $1.5 mil and Insure.com sold for $16 mil, but these were full fledged online businesses that included more than just a domain name.

2.) Candy.com sold for $3,000,000 in a private sale on 6/9/09. Ranking Google PR 4 — Alexa 143,358

3.) Fly.com purchased by TravelZoo for $1,760,000, brokered by Sedo on 2/3/09. Ranking Google PR 6 — Alexa 19,724

4.) Auction.com purchased by REDC Group for $1,700,000 in a private sale on 3/24/09. Operating as a online foreclosure real estate auction site. Ranking Google PR 6 — Alexa 29,270

6.) Russia.com $1,500,000 Sedo 12/2/09. parked

7.) Call.com $1,100,000 Sedo 9/1/09. parked

9.) Server.com $770,000 Sedo 8/4/09. parked

10.) Luck.com $675,000 AfternicDLS 10/14/09. parked
