I’ve been meaning to write this post for sometime now, but always end up talking myself out of it. The past couple of weeks I’ve been indecisive about this subject. To blog or not to blog? The reasons for hesitation 1. I don’t want to offend anyone and 2. trying to figure out which stats I should use for results. So.. I decided to take a chance and not worry about it, using the KISS system “Keep It Simple Stupid”. These are my personal picks of the top 10 domainer blogs, realizing possibly not anyone else. There is no rhyme or reasons for why I picked these blogs. Its simply because I’ve been following them for sometime and have effected me in a positive way, not to mention they have withstood the test of time. Now please, don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of excellent domaining blogs out there. I sometimes visit 30 or more blogs per week, just to keep up with all the information going around.
If your new to domaining or stumbled on this post and like to learn more
then I would highly recommend to visit these sites. If for nothing else, then simply just for their character.
#1 Frank Schilling’s Seven Mile – is the first domain blog I ever followed religiously. Although there hasn’t been a new posting since 2008, this blog still has a wealth of information from one of the best known and respected domainer in the industry. He has inspired hundreds if not thousands of new, old and alike domain investors with his success. Some of us, like me, read his blog over and over, still going back today for reference. When Frank was posting, he would interact with everyone who commented, sharing his knowledge. Back then I would check everyday to see if he had posted, excited to get any tidbit of information he was sharing. Frank we miss you blogging, but I know now from my own blog, it takes a lot of time and effort, so I can relate. Like to go on the record as saying, the Seven Mile blog is still the best!
“adding more skim milk to the mix will not stop the cream from rising, and that cream is .com.” -Frank Schilling
#2 Rick Schwartz Ricks Blog – “Domain King” is a trailblazer in the domaining industry. He’s been around since its inception, placing domain investing on the map. Rick has always something interesting to say, with experienced know how, highly respected in the community. His insight and forwardness can sometimes be easily misunderstood, but he is not afraid to say it like it is. One of the things I find intriguing about Rick is that even when he is striking up the latest million dollar deal, he still finds time to blog and lets us in on it with clues. When it comes to domaining, there’s no one better.. read!
#3 Michael Berkens The Domains – blog has the latest domaining news and commentary from another well respected domain investor. What makes this blog stand out is the long term commitment Michael has given to blogging about the domaining industry. With his legal background, he always offers a balanced understanding of the rights we have as domain investors and the abuse created by cybersquatters, bringing everything into perspective. I must say, reading this blog has kept me honest and practicing with integrity.
#4 Elliott Silver Elliott’s Blog - offers a new fresh approach to domaining, but has been around domains for sometime. You get an inside look at his techniques in buying, selling and developing domain names. He’s also posting breaking news related to domaining industry, several times a day. I personally subscribe to this site RSS feed via email so I don’t miss a thing and can reference his posts later on, that’s how good his material is.
#5 Patrick Ruddell Chef Patrick - is serving up domaining tips and news in a entertaining way. Whether it’s a news video with a beautiful model or giving away a prize in a promo contest, this blog is fun. Pro blogger Chef Patrick is well known in the domaining community, that’s due to his interaction and a one on one relationship with his readers. He always has time to discuss domain names with anyone, genuinely a nice guy. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Patrick and my experience has been positive. His marketing and management skills ensure projects get done from beginning to end on time. He recently announced his new project DNCruise, the first domainer cruise. Its a must!
#6 Morgan Linton - the perfect blog for a new domainer and those domain investors who have ventured into development. His domain name monetization tips have been tried and proven. I’ve been following Morgan since he first started and it’s been great to watch Morgan’s domain business grow. He recently launched a new domaining TV show which has some great interviews from top domain personalities like Howard Neu and Ron Jackson.
#7 Bruce Marler - yup he has a blog!
Bruce is a domainer who gave up his day time job and has successfully launched a geo-domain name Missouri.me. The site is a fully developed as a directory for local businesses. This blogger shares his experiences on what it takes for a local business to compete in today’s online marketing and advertising endeavors.
#8 Tia Wood - this domaining diva is is well known among domainers as someone who is always willing to give a helping hand. I first learned of Tia on Seven Mile blog and also had seen her post on domaining forums. Her awesome developing, coding and designing skills are sought by many domainers who are developing their premium domain name portfolio. Also, be sure to check out her new domainer development community.
#9 Acro.net – this blog gets down to the nitty gritty of domaining. Whether its exposing Hank Alvarez fiasco or identifying spammers who prey on blogs, this site cuts to the chase. No fillers or preservative here, just real unadulterated news posts for domainers. Tip: there’s some suspicion that the same person may be behind the new satire blog DomainGang.com.
#10 Owen Frager’s The Frager Factor - Owen is someone after my own heart, he loves marketing. This blog explores every expect of advertising with a domaining twist. Those who read this blog get the latest info on eMarketing, lots of great information here. He also runs a power lunch with special guest speakers sharing their domaining techniques and experience, so sign up at GrandNames.com!
There it is folks! Of course there’s other blogs worth mentioning like Arbel Arif, Brian’s Teen Domainer, Fusible and Mark Fulton’s DotSauce. Well, actually all the blogs on the left side bar and on the DN links page are worthy of being bookmarked as favorites. They all post on a regular basis sharing their valuable experiences. And then there’s domain news sites like DNJournal, Domain Name News and Domain Name Wire which is yet another great resource for domainers, but that’s for a another post.
I’m sure you have a favorite, go ahead voice your opinion on blogs you often visit. Perhaps there’s some I haven’t heard of. The comments section below is set up as “do follow”, so you get all that free link juice, something we all need as developers.

Hi and thanks for the post. Frank Schilling’s blog is definitely #1. Although he stopped blogging, there are tons of information that still applies today. We are all thankful for him writing when he did. I often revisit myself and read around.
.-= Tia Wood´s last undefined ..If you register your site for free at =-.
A great top 10. Although I think dotsauce.com and domainnamewire.com should have been in the top 5, as they really push the boat out, especially Mark F @ dotsauce, at taking domaining to the next level.
